The 2nd International Student Forum in Rome

From 16th to 17th of February Rome hosted the 2nd International Student Forum, that launched the year of Italy in Russia and the year of Russia in Italy.

The forum was attended by 150 students of Russian universities and Italian students. Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin  was represented by Perekatieva Tatiana, junior member of teaching staff of Finance and Credit Relations Chair; Zhuravleva Viktoria, a student of the Institute of Foreign Languages; Ageeva Anna, a student of History and International Development Faculty.



The International Student Forum was opened on the 16th of February. In the first part of the day the participants visited the sight-seeings of Rome: the Coliseum, Vatikan. The opening ceremony took place on the Capitoline in Roman city hall. The ceremony was attended by Russian and Italian students, rectors and lecturers of the largest universities of the two countries. President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev directed his speech of welcome to the participants of the forum.

The participants of the opening ceremony were Vice-mayor of Rome Mauro Kutrufo, Head of 'Rossotrudnichestvo' Farit Muhametshin, Presidental Envoy to International Culture Cooperation, Coordinator of Russian-Italian Years Programme from Russia Mikhail Shvidkoy. Later the Sapienza University of Rome hosted the meeting of the Forum participants and the Assambley of Russian and Italian university rectors. The same evening the participants of the Forum were invited to a banquet at Ferraioli Palazzo.



The next day was dedicated to round-table discussions on the following topics: 'History and Civil Law', 'Education', 'Technology and Power Engineering', 'Innovations', 'Culture'. Ryazan State University delegates belonged to the section 'Innovations' and presented a report on the topic 'Development of Innovation-Oriented Thinking among the Youth'.

Simultaneously a start was given to The Russian Language Festival, that will last the whole year. In the evening the Roman Conservatory named for St. Chechilia hosted the festive closing of the 2nd International Student Forum. During the closing ceremony a concert was given by the students of St.Petersburg and Roman consevatories. The soloist and the leader of the orchestra was Sergey Stadler, National artist of the Russian Federation,Rector of St.Petersburg Conservatory. The last event of the rich Forum programme was the Student Festival held in one of the Roman night-clubs.
